Home educators Encouraging Academics, Relationships, and the Teachings of Christ
Luke 2:52 "...Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men."
We have a "HEART" for Christ, for parent-led education, and for connecting with other like-minded homeschooling families. HEART is a free network for Christian homeschooling families in the Rome, GA area. We have families from the northwest Georgia counties of Floyd, Gordon, Chattooga, Bartow and Polk, with children ranging in age from birth to high school.
HEART serves as a vehicle through which information is distributed to network members, via email and this website, regarding opportunities for participation in various home school activities, events, field trips, social gatherings.
The types of events we'd like for network participants to initiate are: field trips, social activities, science & literature fairs, creative arts exhibit, debate team, etc. - basically, whatever members can offer according to their individual skills, gifts and resources.
Check the "Resources and News" page for information on opportunities to participate in homeschooling events, Co-op groups and additional home school resources.
Check the "Calendar" page for scheduled HEART events.
Families are not required to participate in the co-op in order to become a member of the HEART Network. To join the HEART Network you need to:
1.) Email HEART at firstname.lastname@example.org and request that your email address be added to the HEART contact list
2.) Register on the HEART website by completing your family profile for the HEART Network by going to the "Directory" tab and click on the "Register now" link.
3.) Complete the "Photography Waiver" located on the "Forms" page. (This must be completed one time by each family and covers participation in either Co-op or HEART Network.)
Only two things are asked of network members:
1.) Consider what you can contribute to the HEART Network, according to the specific gifts the Father has given you (e.g. hosting an activity at your home, coordinating a field trip or other homeschool event, teaching a particular skill to the children, volunteering at a home school event, offering ideas & suggestions, etc.) See the "Volunteers Needed" page for ideas.
2.) Inform HEART, at the email above, of any & all homeschooling opportunities that you become aware so that the information can be shared with the network. Please include an explanation with any links that may be of interest to other homeschooling families. Any emails with that only have links will be considered spam for security purposes.
Once HEART receives your membership request, you'll begin receiving emails detailing various opportunities in our area for homeschooling families.
We also have a "HEART" for providing supplemental, educational activities for our children.
The next session for HEART Co-op will begin in September 2014. Please check back periodically for information and dates for the next session.
When HEART Co-op is in session it meets on Fridays from 8:45-12:30 pm. at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, 416 N. Fifth Ave. Rome, Georgia 30162. We do not meet during the busy month of December.
The church where we meet is not sponsoring HEART, but they, graciously, allow us to use their facility. HEART is an interdenominational, Christian organization.
Click on the "Join Co-op" page for more details on joining the Co-op. Online registration is now available.
Commitment is on a session by session basis. Currently there is a $35 fee per session for each family to participate. On occasion a class may require a nominal fee for supplies for a class but that is kept to a minimum and does not happen often.
We do have network members who participate in co-ops other than HEART. Information regarding these, and other opportunities for homeschooling families, can be found on the "Resources and News" page.
